There is hope: Supporting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, a time to unite around a critical cause: breaking the stigma of mental health and reminding people that support is always within reach. The Boundless team worked on a campaign to bring greater awareness to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Why 988 Matters

Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, yet it is preventable. For many in crisis, the hardest step is knowing where to turn for help.

The 988 Lifeline makes support more accessible than ever. By dialing just three digits, anyone in the U.S. can quickly reach a caring professional for free, confidential assistance. Whether it’s suicidal thoughts, a mental health struggle, or emotional distress, the 988 Lifeline ensures no one has to navigate their darkest moments alone.

Raise Awareness

The Boundless team led the creative development of a national social media campaign designed to make 988 visible, approachable, and memorable. The campaign highlighted three central truths:

  • There is hope. Everyone deserves the chance to be heard, supported, and guided toward safety.
  • Help is immediate. By calling or texting 988, people are connected directly to mental health professionals trained to listen and respond.
  • Connection matters. Threads of care and support can transform moments of crisis into pathways toward healing.

Through human-centered visuals, direct typography, and messages of empowerment, the campaign helped extend the reach of this life-saving lifeline.

Carrying the Work Forward at Woven

This project remains a meaningful example of how bold communication can create impact far beyond the screen. It also reflects Woven’s mission: to design communication that strengthens human connection, uplifts communities, and supports better health for all.

By sharing the message of 988, we’re reminded that each of us plays a role in suicide prevention. Spreading awareness, checking in with friends and loved ones, and reducing stigma around mental health can save lives.

How You Can Help

  • Share the number: Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
  • Talk openly about mental health — it helps break down stigma.
  • Save 988 in your phone and encourage others to do the same.

Closing Thought

We are proud to be raising awareness for this vital initiative. As we continue this mission, we remain committed to creating communications that weave stronger connections, bring hope to those who need it most, and remind everyone: you are not alone.

💜 If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call or text 988 immediately.
